Two chargers can look identical on the wall and be worlds apart behind it. Ours start with arithmetic: a maximum demand calculation that accounts for everything already on your installation, a check of your main fuse and tails, and an honest answer about whether your supply can take the load. If something needs attention first, you hear it before we quote — not on the day.

Then there is earthing. Most modern UK homes take a PME supply, and on PME a rare fault in the network's combined neutral-and-earth conductor can leave a charging car sitting at a dangerous voltage. BS 7671 (18th Edition) deals with EV installations specifically for this reason. We specify PEN-fault protection to suit your earthing arrangement as standard, test the finished circuit thoroughly, and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate with every install.

For a workplace, the question is rarely whether to install charging — it is how many bays the incoming supply can honestly support. We assess the site's maximum demand first, then design around it: load management that shares available capacity across bays dynamically, circuits sized for the duty they will actually see, and a layout that grows in phases as the fleet does. That conversation is far cheaper at the design stage than after the first nuisance trip.

There is a compliance angle for employers too. Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, charge points become part of the electrical system you are required to keep safe. We install with that duty in mind — clearly labelled, properly documented and easy to inspect — whether you run an office on one of Peterborough's business parks, a school, a care home or an industrial unit.
